We are actively seeking K-2 teachers for the 2017-18 academic year.
Teacher Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure that the school’s academic standards are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with NC Department of Public Instruction Standards
Develop curricula and activities that are aligned with the academic standards
Develop and use a variety of assessments that measure progress toward the academic standards (e.g., exams, written work, and public performances) that frequently measure student progress towards the school’s content and skill standards
Ensure that students master grade-level standards
Maintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all students
Incorporate direct instruction, lectures, audiovisual teaching aids, discussions, projects and cooperative work to engage students
Keep classes focused and infuse a lasting desire to learn
Assesses student progress on a regular basis.
Collaborates with other educators to create a dynamic educational environment for students.
Maintains order in classroom and on playground.
Counsels students when adjustment and academic problems arise.
Discusses students’ academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
Keeps attendance and grade records as required by the school and state.
Demonstrates an appreciation for diversity among students, colleagues, and parents
Follow the school’s policies and procedures on discipline and teaches rules of student conduct
Develop clear evaluation criteria and distribute to students prior to assignments
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Share responsibility for grade level and school-wide activities
Prepares and submits lesson plans following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
Marginal functions and activities for which this position is accountable.
May coordinate class field trips, teach combined grade classes, specialize by subject taught, such as language arts, math, science or social studies.
Performs other related duties as required.
Teacher Qualification, Skill and Knowledge Requirements
A dedication and commitment to the mission of Unity Classical Charter School, CFA
Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years teaching experience is required
2 – 5 years teaching experience in an urban school setting is a plus
NC certification for Grades K -5 desired
Excellent oral and written communication skills
